Approximation of infinite matrices by matricial Haar polynomials. (English)

The authors extend the classical Haar theorem concerning the approximation of continuous functions by Haar polynomials to infinite matrices. Toeplitz matrices play an important role in the matricial framework of Haar's theorem.
