The electromagnetic inverse-scattering problem for partly coated Lipschitz domains.
(English)
[J] Proc. R. Soc. Edinb., Sect. A, Math. 134, No. 4, 661-682 (2004). ISSN 0308-2105; ISSN 1473-7124/e

This paper is concerned with studying the application of the linear sampling method to solving the inverse scattering problem of constructing the shape of partly coated Lipschitz domains (i.e. domains which allow mixed boundary conditions on each of their components). The method has direct military applications in identifying hidden or unreachable objects coated with unknown materials to avoid detection. The authors show the usage and practicality of the method through mathematical analysis and numerical examples.
