Electrodiffusion is considered in an incompressible electrolyte which is in motion. The Cauchy problem is governed by a coupled Navier-Stokes/Poisson-Nernst-Plank system, and the existence is proved of a unique smooth local solution when the initial data is smooth and nonnegativity of the ion concentrations is conserved. The results are obtained by using semigroup methods.
