Davies, E. Brian Pseudospectra of differential operators. (English) Zbl 0998.34067 J. Oper. Theory 43, No. 2, 243-262 (2000). Summary: The author studies the pseudospectral theory of a variety of nonselfadjoint constant coefficient and variable coefficient differential operators, showing that the phenomenon of nontrivial pseudospectra is typical rather than exceptional. He proves that the pseudospectra provide more stable information on the operators under various limiting procedures than does the spectrum.
