The polynomial systems theory for distributed parameter systems is briefly discussed. The theory is applied to the design of a feedback controller for the system, where a metal wire is pulled out from a heating treatment with constant velocity, and the control problem is to manipulate the temperature distribution of the pulled wire to a desired one. The temperature estimator is also constructed. Simulation results show the applicability of the design approach. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0952.00062].
