Stirling numbers and Bell numbers: their role in combinatorics and probability. (English)

This is an excellent readable survey of the properties of Stirling and Bell numbers, with good examples of the contexts in which the numbers arise. Motivation, often from a probability viewpoint, is good throughout. Extensions to weighted and associated Stirling numbers are also discussed, and there are many references to the literature.
