On eigenstructure assignment for robust fault diagnosis.

Considering robust fault detection problems, an approach is given for the assignment of right observer eigenvectors for robust residual generation, where the disturbance decoupling is achieved by the assignment of either left or right observer eigenvectors. For the left eigenvector assignment method, a sufficient condition is given; for the right eigenvector assignment method, necessary and sufficient conditions are derived. The eigenstructure assignment methods are illustrated by some numerical examples.
