Appl. 13, 251-265 (2000). Summary: A thermodynamically consistent model of shape memory alloys in three dimensions is presented. The model, based on the strain tensor, its gradient and the absolute temperature, constitutes a generalization of the 1-D Falk model. Constitutive equations result from the entropy inequality. The results on the existence and uniqueness of solutions together with the basic ideas of the proof are presented. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0941.00020].
