A study of hypersonic reacting flows (non-equilibrium gas mixture) is presented. First a one-dimensional flow is considered, to emphasize the numerical problems related to very different time-scales of convective and reactive phenomena. A simplified problem concerning the chemical dissociation behind a shock wave is solved. A method of advancing in space and two methods of integration in time, applicable to the \(2\)D case as well, are developed. For \(2\)D flows a method of triangular, non-structured grids is given. The precision is of second order, by using a MUSCL scheme. This approach is advanced first in connection with the Euler equations. In the final part, the viscous effects are included, considering the Navier-Stokes equations for the boundary layer near a wall. A semi-implicit noncentered scheme for the convective fluxes and a centered one for diffusive fluxes are used. Numerical examples are also given.
