The authors give an exact formula for the computation of the structured singular value of a complex matrix of rank one. The result is used by the authors in the robustness analysis framework. It produces an analytical expression for the robust margin of the finite impulse response system with ellipsoidal parametric uncertainty. Affine systems (‘uncertain polynomials’) whose real and complex coefficients are unknown but bounded by ellipsoidal constraints are also studied.
