$H\sb \infty$ control for descriptor systems: A matrix inequalities approach.

The authors consider the $H_\infty$ control problem for descriptor systems that possibly have impulsive modes and/or $j\omega$-axis zeros. Matrix inequalities that characterize some properties of descriptor systems, namely generalized stability condition and $H_\infty$ norm condition, are proposed. Using these algebraic conditions the authors reduce the descriptor $H_\infty$ control problems, which involves satisfying the $H_\infty$ condition and eliminating the impulsive modes of the plant, to solving linear matrix inequalities.
