Finite dimensional attractors for a class of semilinear wave equations. (English) Zbl 0868.35074

This is a survey paper on various results concerning the existence of a global attractor for semilinear wave equations containing various dissipation terms. Standard methods are used (\(\alpha\)-contractions) to construct an exponential attractor of finite dimension for a broad class of problems with different damping terms.
