Chaotic size dependence in spin glasses.
(English)
[A] Boccara, Nino (ed.) et al., Cellular automata and cooperative systems. Proceedings of the NATO Advanced Study Institute held in Les Houches, France, June 22-July 2, 1992. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers. NATO ASI Ser., Ser. C, Math. Phys. Sci. 396, 525-529 (1993). ISBN 0-7923-2272-X

Summary: We argue that chaotic size dependence is an intrinsic feature of the infinite-range Sherrington-Kirkpatrick (SK) model and should occur in short-range spin glasses if their low temperature behavior is analogous to that of the SK model. Chaotic size dependence offers a new way to distinguish, both numerically and theoretically, between the multistate picture of short-range spin glasses based on the SK model and the two-state picture based on scaling theories.
