Rebarber, Richard Exponential stability of coupled beams with dissipative joints: A frequency domain approach. (English) Zbl 0819.93042 SIAM J. Control Optim. 33, No. 1, 1-28 (1995). Two examples of coupled Euler-Bernoulli beams with a dissipative joint are discussed. Joint placements that lead to exponential stability for these systems are characterized. The technique used shows that input-output stability implies exponential stability. The analysis of the second system involves a complete spectrum analysis of the zero dynamics of the associated controlled, observed system.
