Random fatigue: from data to theory. (English) Zbl 0768.73054

Boston, MA etc.: Academic Press. ix, 266 p. (1992).
The book consists of 7 chapters: 1. Fatigue of engineering materials: Empirical background, 2. Stochastic approach to fatigue: Mathematical prerequisites, 3. Random fatigue loads: Statistical characteristics, 4. Random fatigue: Evolutionary probabilistic models, 5. Random fatigue crack growth: Cumulative jump models, 6. Random fatigue crack growth: Differential equation models, 7. Comparisons and applications.
In a very brief manner the authors are giving data concerning stochastic approach to fatigue — random fatigue loads — probabilistic models- random fatigue crack growth. The reader is getting an impression that the book is a set of mathematical exercises on applications of probability in crack theory. This is not a teaching book and not a monograph but a short encyclopaedic information on the state of art in the field of analytical stochastic approaches to crack theory. (217 references).
