[For the entire collection see Zbl 0745.00040.]We submit in this article a discretization by classical finite elements \(P_ 1\) of the unilateral contact problem with Coulomb friction. Existence, as well as uniqueness when the value of the friction coefficient \(\mu\) is small, has been obtained. A fixed point theorem is used to establish unicity for small \(\mu\), therefore convergence of the successive approximation algorithm follows.
