A limit theorem for the Riemann zeta-function near the critical line in the complex space. (English) Zbl 0739.11031

Es sei \({\mathcal B}\) die Klasse der Borelschen Mengen von \(\mathbb{C}\). Für eine Lebesgue-meßbare Menge \(M\) sei mes\(\{M\}\) das Lebesguemaß von \(M\). Der Verf. beweist die folgende Verschärfung eines unveröffentlichten, von A. Selberg 1940 bewiesenen Satzes. Für \(1/2\leq\sigma\leq 1/2+(1/\ln T)\), \(\kappa(T)=(1/2 \ln \ln T)^{-1/2}\), \(T\to\infty\) konvergiert das Wahrscheinlichkeitsmaß \[ (1/T)\hbox{mes}\{t\in[0,T] \mid\;\zeta^{\kappa(T)}(\sigma+it)\in A\} \qquad (A\in{\mathcal B}) \] schwach gegen das durch die charakteristische Transformation \(\exp(-(t^ 2/2)- k^ 2/2)\) (\(t\in\mathbb{R}\), \(k\in\mathbb{Z}\)) auf \((\mathbb{C},{\mathcal B})\) definierte Maß.
