Economically optimal c- and np-control charts. (English) Zbl 0731.62151

Summary: The author [see e.g. ibid. 28, 211-236 (1981; Zbl 0473.62093)] developed simple procedures to determine the approximately optimal economic design of control charts for measurements. Applying these procedures to the case of control charts for attributes, nomograms are obtained from which the approximately optimal design of c-charts, i.e. charts for defects, is readily available. Furthermore, it is shown that this method also provides good approximately optimal np-charts, i.e. charts for defectives.
