Fettweis, Alfred; Nitsche, Gunnar Numerical integration of partial differential equations using principles of multidimensional wave digital filters. (English) Zbl 0727.65106 J. VLSI Signal Process. 3, No. 1-2, 7-24 (1991). An approach is developed for the numerical solution of hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations which is massively parallel by requiring only local interconnections. The physical system underlying the partial differential equations is simulated by means of discrete passive dynamical systems. The algorithms presented are based on the principles of multidimensional wave digital filtering. The main features are explained by means of an example.
