Hietarinta, J.
Hirota's bilinear method and partial integrability.
(English)
[A] Partially integrable evolution equations in physics, Proc. NATO/ASI, Les Houches/Fr. 1989, NATO ASI Ser., Ser. C 310, 459-478 (1990).

[For the entire collection see Zbl 0703.00017.] \par The author considers Hirota's bilinear method. The method was introduced for the study of completely integrable systems in connection with N- soliton solutions. It is shown that bilinear equations can be given for partially integrable systems, i.e. systems that do not have general N- soliton solutions, but only some soliton solutions.
