The Hellan-Herrmann-Johnson method: Some new error estimates and postprocessing. (English) Zbl 0665.65082

De nombreux articles publies dans les années récentes traitent de la méthode H H J (Hellan-Herrmann-Johnson) aux éléments finis mixtes en vue de la résolution de problèmes aux limites elliptiques linéaires du quatrième ordre, qui sont de la forme \(\Delta^ 2\psi =f\). Le schéma H H J est basé sur la séparation de ce problème biharmonique en deux équations du second ordre suivant les inconnues \(\psi\) et u, \(\psi\) désignant la fonction et u le tableau contenant les dérivées secondes. Le schéma possède un seul inconvénient, consistant á conduire à la résolution d’un système linéaire à matrice indéfinie.
Dans le présent article l’aut. analyse en premier lieu de schéma H H J. Il considère un polygone convexe \(\Omega\) de \(R^ 2\) ainsi qu’une décomposition \(T_ h\) de \(\Omega\) en triangles régulièrs T. Il est désormais en meure d’introduire la formulation continue mixte du problème modèle, qui permet l’application de la méthode envisagée. L’un des thèmes de l’article est indiqué: la matrice obtenue étant indéfinie, on élimine une condition de contrainte imposée au moment de courbure pour contourner cet inconvénient. D’autre part l’aut. introduit des multiplicateurs de Lagrange définis aux frontières entre élément, pour lesquels il se propose d’établir des bornes de l’erreur. Il démontre la convergence des multiplicateurs vers la dérivée normale du déplacement.A cet effet il considère un résultat de superconvergence pour l’erreur \(\| \psi^ h=P_ h\psi \|_ 1\) où \(P_ h\) est un opérateur de projection approprié. Ce résultat lui permet en outre de construire, au moyen d’un processus postérieur convenable, une nouvelle approximation de \(V\psi\), qui converge avec un ordre plus élévé que \(V\psi^ h\).
