Solutions à variations bornées pour certains systèmes hyperboliques de lois de conservation. (Solutions of bounded variations for certain hyperbolic systems of conservation laws). (French) Zbl 0627.35062

Il s’agit d’un système hyperbolique de deux lois de conservation à deux inconnues sur \(R\times R^+\), du premier ordre \[ (1)\quad \partial u/\partial t+\partial f(u)/\partial x=0,\quad u=(u_ 1,u_ 2),\quad x\in R,\quad t>0. \] Le système a été déjà étudié par B. Temple [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 280, 781-795 (1983; Zbl 0559.35046)], et à ce travail nous renvoyons pour le généralités, rappellant seulement que le système (1) est dit hyperbolique strictement dans un domaine \({\mathcal D}\) de \(R^ 2\), si la matrice f’(u) possède deux valeurs propres distinctes et réelles \(\lambda_ 1\), \(\lambda_ 2\) pour tout \(u\in {\mathcal D}\). Soit \(u^ 0(x)\) un champ à variation bornée defini sur R, à valeurs dans un domaine compact dont l’image par l’application \(u\to w\) est incluse dans un rectangle \(R^ 0\) dont les côtés sont parallèles aux axes. On suppose que \(\sup_{R^ 0} \lambda_ 2<\inf_{R^ 0} \lambda_ 2\). L’A. établit un théorème d’existence d’une solution faible u(x,t) du problème de Cauchy (1)-(2) \(u(x,0)=u^ 0(x)\). u(x,t) est à valeurs dans le quadrilatère \(w^{-1}(R^ 0)\), à variation bornée (au sens de Tonelli-Cesari) sur \(R\times (0,T)\), \(\forall T>0\). La variation totale de chaque invariant de Riemann \(w_ i(u(.,t))\) décroi avec t. Enfin si \(\Phi\) est une entropie du système (1), convexe sur \(w^{-1}(R^ 0)\) de flux \(\Psi\) (u), on a \(\partial \Phi (u)/\partial t+\partial \Psi (u)/\partial x\leq 0.\)
Le même théorème d’existence est obtenu en considérant la convergence de la suite \(u^{\epsilon}(x,t)\), solution de la régularisation parabolique de (1): \[ \partial u^{\epsilon}/\partial t+\partial f(u^{\epsilon})/\partial x=\epsilon (\partial^ 2u^{\epsilon}/\partial x^ 2)\quad (\epsilon >0). \] Du Mémoire il paraît l’analogie avec le cas d’une seule équation, même du dernière section, où l’A. montre le découplage du système au but d’un temps fini.
