Es sei E eine elliptische Kurve über \({\mathbb{Q}}\) mit komplexer Multiplikation, die Gruppe E(\({\mathbb{Q}})\) enthalte einen Punkt P unendlicher Ordnung. Für ein Primelement \(\pi\) im Endomorphismenring von E sei \(k_ n\) der Körper der \(\pi^ n\)-Teilungspunkte von E und \(K_ n\) die Erweiterung von \(k_ n\), die man durch Adjunktion des \(\pi^ n\)-ten Teils von P erhält. J. Coates und A. Wiles [Invent. Math. 39, 223-251 (1977; Zbl 0359.14009)] haben bewiesen, daß die Hasse-Weil Zetafunktion von E über \({\mathbb{Q}}\) bei \(s=1\) eine Nullstelle hat. Ein wichtiger Schritt in ihrem Beweis ist der Nachweis, daß genau die Fortsetzung von \(\pi\) bei der Erweiterung \(K_ n/k_ n\) verzweigt ist. Aufbauend auf Überlegungen von H. M. Stark [Prog. Math. 26, 349-362 (1982; Zbl 0542.14010)] gelingt es dem Autor, diesen Schritt zu präzisieren: Er kann den Führer der abelschen Erweiterung \(K_ n/k_ n\) exakt berechnen.
