Gagneux, Gérard Existence et propriétés du temps de percée lors de déplacements forcés eau-huile en milieu poreux. (The water break-through time during the secondary recovery procedure from oil fields). (French) Zbl 0599.76112 J. Méc. Théor. Appl. 3, 415-432 (1984). Within the frame of Chavent’s mathematical modelling of the secondary recovery from oil fields, the aim of this paper is a particular aspect of the theoretical study of water-oil displacements in a three-dimensional porous field. The model under consideration consists of a degenerate evolution inequality and an elliptic boundary value problem. It is shown that there exists a finite time when water starts being produced simultaneously with oil. Moreover some properties of the amount of oil produced per unit time before and after this water break-through time are described.
