The paper considers Poincaré-Steklov operators S (for example, if u is the solution of the Neumann problem with boundary condition \(\partial u/\partial \nu =g\), then Sg is the trace of u on the boundary) with purpose to substantiate methods of separation of a domain for second order elliptic systems. Some properties of the operators S are established and an iterative algorithm for equations of the theory of elasticity is discussed.
