Shape preserving piecewise rational interpolation. (English)

An explicit formulae of a $C\sp 1$ piecewise rational cubic interpolant is presented which can be used to solve the problem of shape preserving interpolation. The method can be applied to convex and to monotonic grid functions. An error analysis of the interpolant is given and simple examples are presented.
