Mera, Nicolae S. Hybrid GA-SQP algorithms for three-dimensional boundary detection problems in potential corrosion damage. (English) Zbl 1113.65101 Acta Univ. Apulensis, Math. Inform. 10, 225-242 (2005). The author proposes a method for the numerical solution of an inverse problem for the three dimensional Laplace equation which uses Cauchy data from part of the boundary to determine the shape of the rest of the boundary. The method uses a sequential quadratic programming optimization algorithm and a real coded genetic algorithm, and the unknown boundary is parameterized using \(B\)-splines. The problem arises when current and voltage data from accessible parts of an aircraft body are used to detect corrosion in inaccessible parts.
