From the introduction: Assigning students to keep a blog as an electronic mathematics journal adapts this valuable writing activity and transforms it into a twenty-first-century activity via a digital channel. Students are already in tune with digital media, and blogging taps into technology they already use. For teachers, using digital journals alleviates the physical volume of paper journals and also shortens the time necessary to grade and respond. For both teacher and students, electronic mathematics journals give simultaneous access to journals and feedback. Students have better access to their teacher, and teachers have immediate access to students\rq thinking and areas of concern. Teachers and students can benefit from using electronic mathematics journals, at a lower time cost for teachers.
