Guessing and estimating: An activity on estimating strategies in practical and visual setting. (English)

Overview: Pupils realise the differences between a guess, whether wild or based on some prior knowledge, and reasoned estimate, the steps of which can be argued and agreed. They compare the practical setting of coins in a jar and a visual setting of pictures of many objects, and find common threads.
