The author illustrates Euler’s thoughts on the foundations of calculus by studying his contributions to multivariable calculus, his Introduction to analysis of the infinite [Book I. New York etc.: Springer-Verlag (1988; Zbl 0657.01013), Book II. New York etc.: Springer-Verlag (1990; Zbl 0688.01015)], the complex logarithm [see {\it C. Gilain}, Quad., Accad. Sci. Torino 16, 43‒60 (2008; Zbl 1193.01027)], and his notion of continuous functions.
