    abstract     = {Summary: This paper looks at several situations that gradually try to introduce the concept of expected value. This is a concept that does not appear explicitly in the secondary curriculum, but which is often used intuitively. Here we suggest a way of presenting it to students using spreadsheets, making the most of the opportunity to stimulate students' intuition and capacity for analysis without the need to get distracted by the calculations.},
