With reference to schema theory, this paper sets forth the argument that intuitive ideas of force are not pre-formed but arise spontaneously in response to considering force and motion within its scientific context for the first time. This paper also puts forward the argument that we may have no choice but to look at pre-instructed concepts through the lens of the subject as a system of well-defined concepts. (orig.) rv:
