In this contribution, we focus on its potential in the context of Brazilian school mathematics. We present results of a study involving a group of mathematics teachers as they explored the possibilities offered by the software and considered the design of SimCalc activities for 13--15 year-old students, that might ``fit" the approaches related to function as prescribed in the mathematics curriculum activities currently used in the public school system of the State of S\~ao Paulo. \itemrv{~} \itemcc{U53 C63 D33 D43 I23} \itemut{mathematics culture; computer aided instruction; curricula; technology in mathematics instruction; teachers' activities; functions; Brazil} \itemli{doi:10.1007/978-94-007-5696-0\_19} \end
