Using probabilistic arguments, for the standard Geom/$G/1$ system, a variant of the steady state equations for the stationary occupancy distribution is derived. The equations could alternatively also be obtained from well known analytical results (cited in the paper) for the Geom/$G/1$ system. Further its implications on the finite buffer Geom/$G/1/M$ system are discussed.
