This paper is devoted to a discussion of the construction of coherent states systems that are not derived from a square-integrable group representation in general. In particular, a study of the coherent states structures that interpolate between wavelets and Gabor functions, that have a wavelet-behavior at high-frequency ranges and Gabor-behavior at low-frequency ranges is given. In addition, a continuous analogue of the minimal-entropy criteria of Coifman, Meyer, and Wickerhauser is proposed for selecting optimal decomposition.
