Oscillation effects on neutrinos from the early phase of a nearby supernova. (English) Zbl 0961.81135

Oscillation effects on neutrinos are discussed. A sensitive probe for oscillations is investigated: The ratio of the calorimetric detection of neutrino fluence via the neutral current channel to the total energy integrated fluence observed via the charged current channel. For such studies the Super Kamiokade and the Sudburg Neutrino Observatory may register a great enough number of events from nearby supernovae.
