ab: Authors’ abstract: The areas of data-mining and expert systems are most
    often the subject of separate research efforts, even if their object is
    the same ‒ knowledge. We describe a possibility of using a synergetic
    integration of the mentioned systems to overcome certain problems in
    both of them. Looking at DM tools as an inductive form of reasoning,
    and expert systems as tools for deduction from a knowledge base, the
    idea of integration comes very naturally. Furthermore, we address the
    problems of this ‘joint-venture’, which involve knowledge
    representation, quality of knowledge and knowledge-base completeness.
