Summary: We propose an analytical approach for the study of fractal behavior of telecommunication traffic following Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) through a mathematical model proposed by {\it A. Gilbert} and {\it H. Karloff} [in: Proceedings of the thirty-fifth annual ACM symposium on theory of computing (STOC 2003), San Diego, CA, USA,. New York, NY: ACM Press. 297--306 (2003; Zbl 1192.68073)]. Through this approach, we are able to calculate the Hausdorff dimensions of some traffic data sets under mild conditions, thus partially answers the conjectures in [loc. cit.].
