The authors present a new method for linear phase filters design, optimum in amplitude in the sense of Tchebycheff. The main idea is that of geometrically limiting the space of search of the filter coefficients in order to avoid round off errors, and to minimize the computation time. The method leads to a global optimal and directly implementable solution and gives better results compared to the classical algorithm of MacClellal-Parks. Several examples reflect the efficiency of the proposed method.
