<ab>Summary: In this paper we present first results for a new approach of an innovative user interface for digital library and information retrieval systems. The leading thought bases on the fact that only the dialog between user and system can establish a necessary information context in order to satisfy an information need. We introduce a framework for information retrieval systems to handle activities and sets elaborated during a search process and a prototype tool integrated in an existing interface framework. Finally a description of a user study and expert interviews and their evaluation results conducted on the basis of the tool is given.</ab>
