<ab>Summary: Generally, the search for asymptotic formulae that explain the regularities of some technological processes is associated with the condition of `quick return' of elements of the processes that fail. In this paper the limiting distributions of a 2-unit redundant system without warm standby are studied. Three types of maintenance policies are introduced: rigid, flexible and economical; it is shown that they have no influence on the limiting distributions of the time of failure-free operation of the system.</ab>
