Summary: [For the entire collection see Zbl 0553.00017.] This work presents a recursive algorithm which gives a suitable starting reduced-order regulator which stabilizes the over-all system. This procedure applies a model-reduction approach to a full-order regulator built-up by the Kalman optimum observer and the optimum algebraic regulator. A periodical check of the suitability of the chosen structure is introduced.
