In this paper, we present a uniform method to design QIS schemes using GHZ-type and W-type states. We also give a simple criteria on W states for QIS. \itemrv{~} \itemcc{} \itemut{quantum secret sharing; quantum information splitting; W states; GHZ states} \itemli{doi:10.1007/978-3-642-24553-4\_32} \end
