Curvature properties can visually be understood by computing and rendering so-called ``focal surfaces''. This is the primary technique discussed in this paper. The B\'ezier representation is used in the context of reviewing various quality-related surface properties. The advantages of a B\'ezier representation are clearly pointed out when dealing with surface quality analysis issues. \itemrv{B.Hamann (Mississippi State)} \itemcc{} \itemut{visualization; freeform curves and surfaces; curvature; focal surfaces; surface quality analysis; B\'ezier representation} \itemli{doi:10.1016/0010-4485(95)93587-P} \end
