    <ab>The authors develop a group explicit method for the convection dominated diffusion equation in two space dimensions. The algorithm is based on dimensional splitting where in each direction a second-order compact upwid scheme is used. The stability in the $L^2$ sense is proved. A numerical test case (Gaussian moving with constant velocity) is used to illustrate the parallel efficiency of their implementation.</ab>
