Several heuristic rules are developed, and their various combinations are compared to each other to select the best one for the initial solution of this problem. A tabu search method based on the selected rule combination is further used to optimize the processing sequence of operations on a lane stacker. Computational experiments show the efficiency of the developed algorithm. rv:
