Summary: The traditional network management architecture is not suitable for hybrid networks because of high complexity, heterogeneity and integrity of several different kinds of networks (Internet, wireless mobile Ad Hoc network, satellite and other integrated network). This paper addresses a Novel Management Protocol (NMP) for hybrid networks and verifies it by using the manager/agent system. A special gateway is designed to connect two kinds of agents. The delivery time of a message and the length of the protocol digital unit are simulated under two kinds of protocols (NMP and SNMP). The results show the better performances of NMP.
